Com // One of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, the Task Forces of the Raider Infantry Battalion 509/Balawara Yudha Kostrad, is currently conducting mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in Intan Jaya Regency, Papua Tengah Province. On Wednesday, 6 November 2024, the 509 Task Forces, especially the Holomama Post led by First Lieutenant Wanianto, conducted a security patrol in the Pesiga Village, Sugapa District. During the patrol, the Team met a woman complaining of pain.
When they passed each other, the Patrol Team saw a woman sitting on the side of the road selling vegetables. Her name was Marta Lokbene, and she complained of pain in her head. After being approached by the Soldiers, it was seen that Marta was in a weak condition and needed immediate medical attention. Marta, who could not bear the pain, had to sit weakly on the side of the road, holding her head.
Luckily, while carrying out the patrol, a Medical personnel from the Task Force was also part of the Patrol Team. Seeing Marta’s condition, the personnel immediately checked and treated her symptoms. After the first aid, the personnel gave Marta free medicine to consume for the next few days to heal her sickness. The actions of the Patrol Team in Pesiga Village followed up on the emphasis of the Commander of the 509 Task Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Dian Dessiawan Setyadi, regarding the importance of the Task Forces’ attention to the community’s basic needs in the assigned area. After the treatment, Marta expressed her gratitude by saying, “Thank you, Commander 509. God bless.” After receiving the activity report, the HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, acknowledged the 509 Task Forces’ initiative to provide treatment to a resident of Pesiga Village. His words: ‘The 509 Task Forces’ initiative is a testament to TNI’s commitment to helping the residents with difficulties in the health sector, one of the community’s basic needs, to support the acceleration of development in the Papua region.’ This acknowledgment from the highest authority in HABEMA underscores the significant impact of such initiatives on the region’s development, instilling a sense of progress and hope about their potential to shape the region’s future positively.
